The "222" was produced from 1936 - 1943. |
The production amount for the "222" was 989, nearly three times the amount of the SdKfz 221. |
The SdKfz 222 was the standard armored car assinged to Light Amored Car companies. |
There was two types of "222" made during the war, the second type being the same number. It was upgraded in horsepower and a few other minor details. |
It's small size, high speed and manuerability offered some protection from enemy fire. |
It was equipped with anti-grenade mesh on the open turret. |
They served on all fronts from 1939 - 1945. |
The SdKfz "223" was the same vehicle, but was fitted with a long range radio and fold up aerial and carried only a MG. These were produced from 1935 - 1944. |
Opinion on deployment : One for the "Rats" - I can't strees enough that this vehicle is a definate must for War #1, by 1941. I will petition for it, if it is not included in the Battle of France.
